Accessibility Statement
How we test, what we have done, what we know is still imperfect, and how to reach a person if something gets in your way.
Hi-tek Pets wants every pet parent to be able to create, verify, and enjoy their pet's certificate — whatever device, browser, or assistive technology they use. This statement describes the standard we work to, what we have done, and how to reach a person if something gets in your way.
Our standard
We aim for the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA across hitekpets.com. WCAG 2.2 AA also satisfies WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508, and it is the standard the U.S. Department of Justice references for websites under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). We treat it as a floor, not a finish line.
Conformance status
hitekpets.com was reviewed against every WCAG 2.2 Level A and AA success criterion on 5 September 2026, using automated testing (axe-core) on every page type at phone and desktop sizes, plus manual keyboard, zoom, reflow, text-spacing, and screen-reader-name checks. Every issue found in that review has been fixed. We believe the site conforms to WCAG 2.2 Level AA, with the known limitations listed below. We re-test whenever the site changes.
What that means in practice
- Every page can be used with a keyboard alone. A visible focus outline shows where you are, and a "Skip to content" link is the first thing you reach on every page.
- Every image that carries meaning has a text description; decorative flourishes are hidden from screen readers.
- Text and background colours meet at least a 4.5:1 contrast ratio (3:1 for large text and interface parts).
- The site reflows to a single column at 320 CSS pixels wide and still works at 200% zoom and with increased text spacing.
- Every form field has a visible label. Required fields are marked, and when something is missing the page tells you exactly which field, in words, and moves your focus there.
- The certificate builder's live preview is available to screen-reader users as the form itself — everything shown on the preview is typed into a labelled field.
- Nothing auto-plays, flashes, or times out. Menus and dialogs close with the Escape key and return focus to where you were.
- Touch targets are at least 24 by 24 CSS pixels, and no action needs a drag gesture or a fine motor movement.
Known limitations
- Checkout. Payment pages are hosted by Shopify and we cannot change their code. Shopify publishes its own accessibility information for checkout. If you hit a barrier there, tell us and we will complete your order with you by email.
- Your certificate PDF. The certificate is designed as a printed keepsake. If you would like the details of your certificate in another format — plain text, large print, or read out to you — email us and we will provide it free of charge.
- Third-party content. Occasionally we link to other sites (print shops, framing guides). We do not control their accessibility.
Tell us if something is in your way
If any part of hitekpets.com is hard to use, or you need any content in another format, please email contact@hitekpets.com with "Accessibility" in the subject line and, if you can, the page address and the assistive technology you use. A person replies within one business day, and we treat accessibility reports as bugs to be fixed, not feedback to be filed.
