The record number exists from the day you buy. It is printed on the card and shown in the registry as issued, waiting for its pet. When they claim, that same number becomes their certificate's record — nothing is renumbered.
Gift Questions, Answered
Do I need their email address?
No. Nothing is sent to the recipient until they claim. You print or forward the card, and the certificate goes to whichever email address they enter on the claim form.
Can I choose the wording or the pet's name for them?
The design you pick is printed on the card as a suggestion, and that is all you choose. Birth or Adoption wording, the final design and every detail on the certificate are theirs to fill in — which is the point of gifting it this way rather than guessing at a spelling.
What if they never claim it?
The code stays good for 12 months and we remind you along the way — at one month, three months, and a month before it lapses. If it does lapse, the code stops working and the record is marked expired in the registry, so a nudge in month eleven is worth making. If that happens anyway, email contact@hitekpets.com; a person reads it.
Does the record number exist before they claim?
Yes. A record number is assigned the moment you buy, printed on the card, and shown in the registry as issued, waiting for its pet. When they claim, the same number becomes their certificate's record — nothing is renumbered.
Can I buy several?
Yes. Each one in the cart gets its own card and its own code, and the bundle discount applies automatically at checkout — 10% off two, 20% off three or more, whether they are gifts, certificates, or a mix.
Is this a store gift card or credit?
No. It is a specific certificate, paid in full, waiting to be personalized. It cannot be applied to other purchases, and because it is personalized and delivered digitally, the purchase is final once the card is delivered.
